About the association

The Israeli Association for the Study of Prostitution, Sex Work, and Sex Trafficking strives to unite researchers in this broad and diverse field and establish knowledge development as part of a multidisciplinary community.

The Israeli Association for the Study of Prostitution, Sex Work, and Sex Trafficking strives to unite researchers in this broad and diverse field and establish knowledge development as part of a multidisciplinary community. The association's primary goal is to promote theoretical thinking, empirical research, and systematic intervention based on research in this field.

Furthermore, the association strives to promote a diverse and multifaceted public discourse regarding prostitution, sex work and sex trafficking, based on the perspectives of all those involved, especially of populations that have been excluded from this discourse so far. Another important goal is to make research findings and theoretical thinking accessible to policymakers and professionals and collaborate with them to encourage the development of diverse and effective social responses for all those involved.

The association acknowledged that the polarization of ideologies often characterizes the field of prostitution, sex work, and sex trafficking research; hence, it strives to provide a comprehensive framework for research and thinking that relies on various and even contradictory assumptions, as long as they adhere to the principles of scientific ethics. Our premise is that conceptual pluralism is essential for promoting relevant and inclusive social discourse and implementing creative and beneficial ways to reduce social oppression and promote social justice.
